MATMAA Mining Group is a leading privately owned mining company focused on responsible mineral development and long-term value creation across the mining value chain.

The group commenced its activities in 2006 with the exploration of magnetite iron ore deposits in Zanjan Province and entered the production phase in 2008 with the start of mining and mineral processing operations at the Morvarid Iron Ore Complex following the commissioning of a dedicated processing plant. Leveraging a highly skilled workforce, strong technical capabilities, and a knowledge-based management approach, MATMAA has expanded the scale of its mining operations significantly, increasing total material movement capacity from approximately 360,000 tonnes per year to nearly 6 million tonnes per year.

Today, the group plays an active role in supplying iron ore feedstock to five iron ore concentrator plants within the province, supporting regional industrial growth. MATMAA provides direct employment for more than 230 personnel at the Morvarid Mining Complex and, through structured Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, supports sustainable rural employment for over 35 individuals via local services, training, capacity building, and community development initiatives.

The group’s operational excellence has been recognized through multiple distinctions, including selection as the National Outstanding Mining Operator in 2007 and 2009, Outstanding Mining Operator of Zanjan Province in 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012, and National Outstanding Mineral Explorer in 2018 for its systematic exploration programs, followed by provincial recognition in 2023 for excellence in social responsibility.
